Group D is many aspirants' first Railway exam, so this guide keeps things simple: what the paper asks, how to practise for it and how to read your result.
What the Group D paper looks like
The Level 1 computer-based test covers Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness with Current Affairs, with negative marking for wrong answers.
General Science and Reasoning together carry a large share of the paper, so they deserve early attention.
How often to attempt practice tests
In the first two months, one full-length test every ten days plus daily topic practice is enough. Closer to the exam, move to one full test a week.
Always leave at least forty-five minutes after a test to go through the solutions while the questions are still fresh.
Reading your Group D score report
Check accuracy per subject first, then time per section. If General Science accuracy is low, revise NCERT-level basics rather than attempting harder questions.
Keep a simple log of score, accuracy and weak topics for each attempt. Over six attempts the trend tells you far more than any single result.
